This is by far one of my absolute favorite places to camp! Great friendly staff, very clean restrooms & the property is well maintained. It is so hard to find decent, secluded camping & this facility takes the cake. I highly recommend Double R, we have not been able to find another place remotely as nice as it. If it was closer than a 3 hour drive, we'd definitely be there more often.
I highly recommend Double R Campground. I have been going to Double R since 2004. I keep my camper on its lot all year. The campground is well maintained and a safe place for all. It has a nice bathhouse and dumping station. The owners are always ready to offer a helping hand if you need them. Over all its a Great place to have a camp. Hunting, Fishing and many more things to do in the area. You need to take the time to check out the campground, It is the best in the area. Thanks to the owners and to all the other campers for making the Double R Campground the BEST... Please Keep up the good work, I look forward to going camping each weekend. Loving it in Tionesta, Pa at Double R Campground.
I reccomend you shop around before camping here ! It is nothing but a party fest with a bunch of alcoholics if you want your children to learn foul language and to experience drunks at their finest then by all means camp here! The owners are very clicky with a few of the campers that have been there for a while and tend to dig into your buisness instead of sticking to running theirs. They favor these campers and the rules and rates do not apply to them. If you say one thing wrong or complain to them they will evict you on a whim just like that regardless if you have been a good tenant. Do not let the pictures fool you that they post the bath house is falling apart nine times out of ten especially the weekends it is disgusting people have left vomit and feces all over the floor and toilets and all they do is go in with a filthy mop to clean it with out taking the proper hygenic precautions! Dogs do run around the camp ground and some have been left locked up all day barking because the rules are not enforced for everyone. Your neighbour can play his music intil 2.00 am or later. The camp ground turns into a big pond and mud bath when it rains because of inadequate drainage. Black water from campers go straight into holes in the ground people have broken hoses etc to their blue boys and leak all over their lots which sucks if you are their neighbour the stench is disgusting! But like i said if you want to party it up with a bunch of red neck drunken losers then this is the camp site for you! The list is endless of reasons why you should not camp here but if that is what you like then enjoy paying those prices because sometimes being cheaper is not always better i suggest you really really look at this place carefully before you commit it may portray to be picture perfect but trust me it is far from it!
My parents have had a trailer here for many years, and this year we also moved our trailer here to stay. The campground is a VERY basic campground...no bells and whistles and no amenities except toilets and hot showers both in one main rustic bathhouse, which is kept clean. Primitive sites for tents for ten dollars per person per night, one small cabin 20 dollars per person per night, trailer sites with electric and water hook-ups, fire rings, picnic tables, an overgrown trail, basic playground and sandbox for the kiddos. Most of the folks who come here have trailers year round, and stay because they like the fact that it is, for the most part, quiet and rustic. No pool, no activities, no store on site or within walking distance (although you can get bags of ice from the office for a nominal charge, and fresh produce and eggs in season from the Amish farm of Fanny and Noah just up the road a bit). The owners, Tim and Stacy, do have a storage building, and for a nominal fee if you would like to bring up a quad they will house it for you. They also keep the yearly lot rent VERY reasonable, less than $800 a year! The camp is on a dirt lane surrounded by Amish, produce, and cattle farms and a few permanent homes and cabins. The town of Tionesta is a short drive away where you can get your groceries, camp/fishing supplies and do some fishing, boating or go swimming or play mini golf at the Rec area. Leeper is also a short 10 minute drive where you can go to the Country Store for local crafts and get ice cream and an old fashioned oak barrel pickle, and also hit the Leeper Flea Market on Saturday and Sunday. Cooks Forest is about 25 minutes away where there are some activities for the kids....go-karts, mini-golf, bumper boats, canoeing, hiking, horseback riding, river tubing, plus loads of antique and craft shops. Cranberry and Clarion are also both about a 30 minute drive from here where there are WalMarts, shops and restaurants. Overall, this campground is for those who like the very minimal basics, and a quiet (for the most part!) and serene natural setting, whether for a yearly stay or a few days! Love this place and plan to keep our trailer there as long as we can!
